A lot of Veterans will not get help because of pride.

Donald Joseph Prevost, US Marine Corps 1969 - 1970, talks about why he didn't ask for help with his PTSD right away.

A lot of Veterans will not get help because of pride.

They will come home and say,

"I will not ask my country for anything.

I will not go to the VA.

I will not go to the hospital and say, help me,

I think something's wrong with me,"

because there's a stigma attached to it.

If you have Posttraumatic Stress there's,

my little stepson the other day,

12 year old little boy looked at me.

I said, "Yeah I have to go interview about a PTSD thing."

And he says, "Oh, the cuckoo stuff?"

You know, this is the perception.

And that's not what it is.

PTSD is a unique thing for unique people,

just another condition.

It's treatable.

It's treatable but it has to be recognized.
