It's worth opening yourself up to a certain degree of pain.

Pat Timms (US Army, 1970 - 1973) talks about what PTSD treatment was like.

Transcript

Yeah, it was very difficult

because you're talking about things that

you have been trying to suppress and avoid thinking about,

avoid talking about for many, many, many years, you know.

So, that extraction process is very difficult and painful.

But the end result is that it's worth it, it's worth getting out.

It's worth opening yourself up to a certain degree of pain,

but there is light at the end of the tunnel, you know.

So you go through that process, and through that process,

you'll come out with a different life plan for yourself,

and that's what you have to do for yourself.

You know, you can't do it for your wife, your kid,

your mommy, your daddy.

It's a hard thing to say, it may be a little selfish,

but it's the truth.
