It's very manageable for us...

Karen Sullivan (wife of a Veteran with PTSD) talks about how PTSD treatment changed things.

Transcript

First of all, he did the research, and he really

got to an understanding, and I did as well.

We learned together about what the symptoms were,

what the kinds of treatment were, and then he was,

he started with the counseling.

He did both individual and group counseling.

He did a four-month in-patient stay at a VA hospital,

at a special program at that time just for Vietnam Vets.

And he never gave up.

And he was very good about medication.

He was very good about, he followed their recommendations,

and he went through all the ups and downs of

fiddling with it to get it just right and things like that,

but he stuck with it because he really felt, too,

that if he did, if he did the work, that he could

come out the other side and it would be manageable.

And it's not perfect, it's always there,

he always has the PTSD, but it's very manageable

for us, thank God, for right now.
