It's kind of like reprogramming yourself.

Ray Manzano (US Army 1972 - 2007) talks about what PTSD treatment was like.

Transcript

Treatment, at first, was a little difficult

because at first, I didn't want to talk about it.

I was still in denial that I had PTSD

or that I couldn't suck it up and be a man.

But the more I listened to other members in my groups

and the more I talked to the psychologist, the more I realized

that it was something that affected me,

that I needed help on how to have different skill sets to

control the triggers that were setting me off

and build up a, it's kind of like reprogramming yourself

and everything.

You've been dwindled away, and everything that was before

is gone, and now, you're trying to build it all back up again

and learning new techniques to deal with life.
