When I first began the process of therapy,
at first it was kinda
difficult for me to be open
because my actual psychologist
is a white female.
And I could talk to her
about the female part.
You know, the things that bother me
and things that are said.
But for her to understand
me as an Indigenous person,
to me, I didn't think she
would really understand that,
so I kinda held back some
of those things from her.
We talked her about the
basic stuff in front of us
that we need to deal with.
And it wasn't until I went to group,
because the group had women of color,
they had people that had...
Spanish, Hispanic backgrounds,
those kind of things.
Women that were my age,
or a little bit older.
That's when I felt more comfortable
talking about some of those things,
because they were dealing with
some of the same things as well.
