It was hard for me to get back into being Stacy, the civilian.

Stacy L. Pearsall (US Air Force, 1998 - 2008) talks about what PTSD treatment was like.

Transcript

For me, I was working and going through therapy

at the same time, and I'm not going to lie,

Exposure therapy and re-living some of my worst memories

was not a pleasant experience.

And it was hard for me to get back into the mode of being

Stacy the civilian, Stacy the boss, the business owner,

the photographer, get back into work.

And I would just have to leave and go home and just put

myself in a quiet place and kind of bring myself back down.

There were times when I wouldn't be OK

for a couple of days, it was that bad.

And homework is the same way, it's tough, I mean, homework

ends in "work," so it takes some effort and commitment.

The one thing that I kept telling myself was that

there has to be some small success in this work I'm doing

because anything, any endeavor that I ever participated in

where I gave work, there was always some reward, so

I just kept telling myself that.
