Is it ever too late?

Dr. Juliette Harik, Clinical Psychologist, answers common questions about PTSD.

Transcript

It is never too late to come in for treatment.

Some of my most amazing (laughs) treatment experiences

have been with Vietnam veterans

who had PTSD for 25-30 years before they came in.

And a lot of them felt like they were

managing their symptoms to some degree

because they were keeping busy with family and with work.

But then, when they got to retirement age

and they had a harder time keeping busy,

they had more time on their hands,

they noticed that they were starting to have

more upsetting memories and more nightmares,

and they came in for treatment and they were successful.
