I wouldn't come home for days at a time, so nobody really knew where I was.

John Paul, US Marine Corps, 1966 - 1969, talks about how his PTSD affected his loved ones.

Transcript

I think PTSD affected my

relationships

because I was very rigid
in my thinking.

Very rigid.

No room for compromise.

I felt like things had to
be done my way

or they weren't being
done the right way.

That had a lot of effect
on my relationships,

my family. (laughs)

I wrecked cars,

I put my family in
positions where my parents

in position where they
had to lend me money

to

make bail and
hire attorneys.

Sometimes I wouldn't come
home for days at a time.

I'd be working but I
wouldn't come home for

days at a time

so nobody really knew
where I was.
