I wasn't even in my right mind when I was at the casino.

Elizabeth M. Hardy, US Army 1983 - 2004, talks about how she knew she had PTSD.

I was making pretty good money as a teacher and I blew a lot

of that money at the casino.

And I wasn't thinking about, "I've got rent to pay,

I've got this to pay, I've got that to pay."

My mind wasn't focused on reality really.

I can't even tell you, I wasn't even in my right mind

when I was at the casino.

I was in another place.

Because if you came and tried to talk to me, I wasn't even there.

I was somewhere else.

You know? It was just the repetitive thing

of the casino machines and just being in that environment.

Nobody speaks to each other really there,

it's all focused on gambling.

So I think that was all part of it too.

You didn't have to open up to anybody.

You didn't have to talk to anybody.

It was just you and the machine.
