I was taken in by a female therapist and my experience since then, I can't even put it into words.

Sarah C. Humphries (US Army, 1994 - 2012) talks about what PTSD treatment was like.

Transcript

I went to the, the VA here in Salt Lake City has a PTSD clinic

on Tuesday mornings and it was horrible.

I think I was the only female in the room.

I don't mean to say horrible but there were very few of us

from the OEF/OIF conflict.

Not horrible but gut wrenching.

Lot of homeless Veterans in the room getting help

for the first time but it just didn't feel like a place

where I wanted to spend a lot of my time.

But I stuck it out.

I filled out the paperwork and then I was taken

in by a female therapist and my experience since then has been,

I can't even put it into words.

She's fabulous.

She's very smart.

She's been doing this for a long time.

There isn't anything we can't talk about in my sessions

with her and it's been very helpful.
