I was just afraid of being labeled that I had mental problems.

Richard Adams, US Navy 1971 - 1972, talks about why he didn't ask for help with his PTSD right away.

Transcript

I think I was just afraid of being labeled

that I had mental problems or something, you know.

And then I seen some guys that were on medicines and stuff.

Different medicines work for different people

but I've seen some guys that were on it

and they were really like, they seemed out of it.

And I said, "Geez, I don't want to walk

around drooling and stuff."

My doctor told me, "That's not gonna happen."
