I wanted my old self back. I've gotten that and more.

Ron Whitcomb (US Army, 1968 - 1969) talks about how PTSD treatment can help.

Transcript

My life after therapy has been very good.

It's come slowly.

I've taken baby steps when I had to take baby steps.

I was told early on to step outside of my comfort zone

but I had to find one first.

Once I found a comfort zone then I could start stepping outside

of it and I took baby steps and then I could take bigger steps

and then I could jump headfirst outside of it

when I got to a certain point.

I've always strove to get somewhere that I wasn't.

I wanted my old self back.

I've gotten that and more.

I'm strong.

I'm healthy.

I know that I'll have PTSD that will be with me forever.

I deal with it.

I have tools, I have knowledge and I have strength and courage

to deal with it and I'm doing just fine.

Treatment for me has worked greatly and I can't,

I can't say enough about it.

It's out there in all shapes and forms.

It's at the VA.

It's in other places.

Find what's comfortable for you, what works for you and go for it

and keep working, have heart.

You're going to be OK.

This can work for you, too.
