I thought that treatment wasn't helping, which it really was.

Damien Holmes (US Army, US Marine Corps, 1993 - 2005) talks about how PTSD treatment can help.

How can I put it?

The treatment is bravo.

But the fact of the matter is, the majority

of the treatment comes from the patient trying.

And there's been a lot of times where I quit trying

and then [coughs] excuse me, and then I would get back

into the same things: the arguing, the drinking,

the smoking, the mischievousness.

And then all of a sudden, I get a letter in the mail

or a phone call from my counselor and it's like, oh,

I screwed the pooch on this one didn't I?

You know what I mean?

So yeah, there's been times where I thought

that treatment wasn't helping, which it really was

but I just wasn't focused enough at the time.
