I think of your entire life as a pie...

Dr. Emily Keram (Psychiatrist) explains how PTSD treatment can improve your life.

Transcript

I think of your entire life as a pie.

When you first have PTSD and you don't understand it

and you've got a lot of symptoms and you don't know how to

integrate them into your life,

that PTSD is going to take up a very large piece of the pie.

Maybe even half, right?

And so your job is to figure out how to push the two edges

of the PTSD into as small a piece of the pie as possible.

And you need lots and lots of things to help you brace

that piece of the pie into a very small piece

so that you can fill your life up

with all of the other things.

You're never going to have PTSD not be part

of your pie -- of course

it's going to be part of your pie, you had a real experience.

But you can have it be a small piece,

a piece that has taught you a tremendous amount of wisdom,

and a piece that you can keep small.

But you can't do any of that if you don't come for treatment.
