I started seeing things that weren't there.

Tia Christopher (US Navy, 2000 - 2001) talks about how she knew she had PTSD.

Transcript

Before I knew I was diagnosed,

this was during my early onset PTSD, this was after I was raped

and I was in the middle, 'cause that's where my PTSD comes from,

I was in the middle of an investigation and all

that fun stuff but I was still going to regular classes.

Just real quick about the Language Institute,

you study language 10 hours a day plus you have keeping

in shape and all that good stuff.

Of course, we did our extra curricular activities

as well so it's a long day.

So I was in Arabic class and I remember,

the teacher like I remember him lecturing us and I looked

out the window and all

of a sudden I started seeing things that weren't there.

I really thought my rapist was there.

I really thought he was gonna come in the window and get me

and let me tell you, that makes you feel like a crazy person.

I was so incredibly petrified.

And that was, that was really scary you know.
