We all know how mothers and daughter-in-laws

can get along sometimes, especially when one of them

is the mother of the grandchild [laughs]

and that sort of thing.

So, I would say I spent a lot of time refereeing

during that six-month period, and I thought,

at one point I thought,

"How am I going to get these two people on the same universe?

Because they're just being completely unreasonable."

My mom, Mary, being a former pediatric nurse,

of course, had all the answers.

And my wife is a nurse, as well,

so the simplest things of ear drops or teething,

that sort of thing became major battles

because if it wasn't the Colonel's way, it wasn't done right.

The difference between the relationship today

and how it was when she was ill is just so drastic.

I can't even tell you how well everybody gets along

and, after treatment, the way she handles situations now.
