I realized I was depressed and irritable and not getting a lot of sleep.

Richard Sell, US Air Force 1958 - 1967, talks about when he knew he needed to get help for PTSD.

Surprisingly, I had kept it inside of me for almost 40 years --

well, we've been married 38 years -- and I was very irritable

with my wife, and I would get angry at her and irritable,

and she says, "We got to do something about this."

And I realized I was depressed,

and I realized I was irritable,

and I started looking at symptoms of PTSD --

oh, and I was also not getting a lot of sleep.

I was getting very little sleep.

So I started looking at symptoms, and I fell right into

virtually every symptom that you have of PTSD.

And so, therefore, my wife and I went to the PTSD clinic

at the hospital here in Phoenix, and I asked for help.
