I put myself into it…it worked.

Jerry Boggess (US Army, 1962 - 1986) talks about what PTSD treatment was like.

The sessions, I end up
taking a total of

nine sessions,

which they usually go 12.

I can sit here right now
and tell you I put

myself into it,

or maybe I should say she
put me into it.

Either way, it worked.

The first two
or three sessions

less the introductory
part were

were hard, very hard.

But one of the things she
makes you do is tape them

so you've got them on
your iPhone.

And one of the things
she made me do,

well, she asked me to do.

If she asked me,
I did it, okay?

I came home, and I'd listen
to them again and again.

I have a habit of reading
a lot at night.

I was so involved in this
I didn't read at night.

I listened to the tapes
that I had made in the

session with her.

And repetition I guess
is what did it

because it helped.

I still have those tapes,

and yes, I still
listen to them.

It's the weirdest
feeling in your life,

just plugging that tape on
many times just brings you

back down to zero.
