I was stuck before I knew I had PTSD.
I was in a circle and with a
series of drugs and alcohol
and I was going nowhere fast.
So today is not that I'm 100%
living with PTSD
without any complications,
it's just that I
recognize the symptoms now
and I know what I can do to
combat the symptoms, you know?
So, and I try to do that
the best of my ability.
I'm in a place where I
know this is what it is
and I know that I have
to tell myself that,
"Listen, you're not in Death Valley.
You're not on the guard post,
you're not in the desert.
You're safe. You're at home.
You're in the bedroom.
You're here with your wife.
She loves you. Stand down."
