I kind of knew then that I really did have a problem.

Donald Sullivan, US Army 1969 - 1970, talks about when he knew he needed to get help for PTSD.

Transcript

A friend of mine, and I don't really remember who it was,

handed me a small little pamphlet that the VA had put out

and it was describing PTSD.

He handed it to me and said, "Here.

This is you."

I read it and at that point in time I thought about it

and I looked at the way I was doing things

and the pamphlet described me almost to a "T".

It had the name of, it said

"Call your local Vet Center," which I did.

They were very nice on the phone.

They said, "OK, fine.

We'll set you up with an appointment."

I got an appointment for the following week.

It was for a Monday morning at eight o'clock.

Sunday night, we had a blizzard.

I showed up.

Nobody else did.

Sorry about that.

I kind of knew then that I really did have a problem.

And that was the start of really what is a continuing

journey today.
