When I first got back, everybody wanted a piece of Iraq,
they wanted to be connected in some way.
So they wanted the stories, and they would, you know,
I'd go to a cocktail party and they'd be like,
"Oh, this is Sherie, she just got back from Iraq."
And everybody would want to ask questions and, "Oh,
did you see anybody got killed, did you this, did you that?"
And it was just so much, I was like, "This is not a party toy.
This is not a trick I do at parties.
This is my life, and people died."
And I just couldn't be around that anymore, and I think
that's why I mostly just shut down, I just didn't want,
I didn't want pieces of me broken off
for the entertainment of others
because they don't understand.
They just don't know what they're asking, and they don't,
they don't know how insensitive and how freaking rude
it is to ask questions like that.
That's something personal.
I just need to let it be a part of my life, not my life.
