I just didn't want to have anything to do with the military...

Robert Evans, US Army 1967 - 1968, talks about why he didn't ask for help with his PTSD right away.

I just didn't want to have anything to do with the military

side of anything or the bureaucracies that are an offspring

from your military service, I wanted no part.

I was so, I felt like they took me for two years,

and I did my job real well, and then here I'm having

all of these problems...

I went down there one time,

and they did an Agent Orange screening, and it says

"Oh, you're fine," and they just walked you out the door.

And so I says, "That's it!

I'll never ever, ever see you guys again,"

and I probably wouldn't have.

It made me real bitter, but I was definitely wrong

in thinking that way, definitely wrong.
