I like to have time to myself.

Transcript

The way we dealt with it is,

I do fine doing things by myself or with my friends,

or even just, I like to have time to myself.

So if he needed to isolate, he would usually just take off,

or I'd say, "Why don't you go for a ride?"

if I knew he was having a bad day, and I was fine

to either be by myself or make plans with other friends.

That's kind of the way we dealt with it.

But I've always understood that there's times

that he just needs to get out.

He physically can't sit still or stay in the house

because he's just so full of whatever,

racing thoughts and, you know, all kinds of stuff going on.

So actually, sometimes I'd even say,

"Why don't you go away for a day or so?"

Because when it was getting that tense and you knew

it wasn't going to be pleasant, I'd just say,

"Well, I'd rather you just go and deal with your stuff,"

and I'd rather be by myself for a day or so

than have to live on edge and waiting to see

if it was going to be a really bad day.
