As an indigenous person,
I grew up in a family
with military veterans
that never talked about
their service time.
We didn't talk about their service.
A lot of 'em were Vietnam veterans.
A lot of 'em were Korean veterans.
They didn't talk about their service time.
Same thing with people that in my family
that were residential school survivors.
They didn't talk about those things.
We just didn't talk about that
because we didn't bring it open.
We relied more on how we
grew up, how we were taught,
how to talk about those things.
A lot of it from myself.
My grandmother told me to pray about it.
I did a lot of praying.
