I got home and I called the crisis line.

Edward Baldisari, US Army 1965 - 1969, talks about when he knew he needed to get help for PTSD.

Transcript

I was invited to speak at a dinner.

The founder was getting an award.

He wanted me to come up and talk about

how the service dog has helped me

cope with PTSD.

So I stood up in front of the microphone

and boom, that was it.

I was a basket case.

I couldn't talk.

My voice was cutting up.

The tears were starting to come.

And I couldn't say a word.

So afterwards,

I got home and I called the crisis line.

And I talked to them for, god it must have been

at least an hour and a half.

And she made, the lady that I talked to

made an appointment for me to

go over to Audie Murphy, the PTSD Unit,

and that's when I really got serious about it.
