I gave it 110 percent as I did everything else I did in the Corps.

John Angell Jr. (US Marine Corps, 2003 - 2008) talks about what PTSD treatment was like.

Transcript

Me being a Marine gave me the attitude that I need

that I can do treatment, that it's not gonna be hard.

It's not gonna be embarrassing.

It's going to be treatment.

I took my can-do mentality into that

and I didn't hold anything back.

I was up-front and honest with myself and with my psychologist

and I ensured that I gave it 110 percent

as I did everything else I did in the Corps.

I didn't want to half-ass this 'cause I'm a Marine.

I don't half-ass anything.

That's the mentality I took into treatment.

That's how I was able to face Prolonged Exposure,

face the conversations I didn't want to talk

about and get it done.

I just went for it.

I didn't accept defeat as an option

and I don't accept defeat as an option.
