EMDR really helped me
believe in myself again.
I remember in one session my
therapist asked me if there's
like anything that I wanted
to do that I was still
carrying and it was really just a scream.
Like I wanted to scream, I wanted to yell,
I wanted to like let go.
Let this pain you know
separate itself from my body.
And she gave me permission like in the,
in her office, like to scream.
But I couldn't get it out
right there but one day
you know out of nowhere
this scream came up out
of the bowels of my body.
(yelling)
And it really like was a
release of all the hurt
and the pain but at the same
time it helped me reclaim
who I was as a woman, as
a soldier, as a sister.
You know, as a daughter, as a mother.
I released all of that built up tension.
And at the same time I gained myself.
I gained my freedom, I
gained my right to exist.
I gained my right to be you know Yvonne.
Yeah.
