I believe that's when I really, really started working on
the PTSD, with the Here and Now group, when I found
my brothers there in support, that's what it took.
Going one-on-one with a therapist is not enough.
When I did the group with the Here and Now, we were proud.
We shared the same thing, we had the same scars,
we had the same problems.
It didn't matter where we were, when we served
over there, what branch we served.
We shared the same situation, the same horror.
We shared the same effects when we came back.
That's when it really hit me, and I said,
"OK, now this is what's working."
When you hear someone else share their story
and you feel the same pain, the same joy,
the same laughter as that Veteran that went through
the same thing you do, that's when you feel,
"I'm not alone!
Boy, I'm not a freak.
We're all the same, we've experienced the same thing."
