I finally said, "There's something wrong, you need help.

I don't know how to help you anymore,

and I'm not going to keep living this way."

And so, we went up to the VA,

and he went through the intake program that they have,

and they told him he had PTSD.

And I'm like, "What the heck is that, what's PTSD?"

And then, he went and met with a prescriber, as we call him,

a pill doctor, pretty much, and they gave him medication

and said, "OK, this will help.

Let's see if this helps a little bit."

And then, I got home and I started just looking up

more and more, and honestly, when he got home,

there wasn't a lot on PTSD.

There's so much more that's come out on PTSD now

than when my husband got home

and when he finally decided to get help.

So, just through what the doctors told me

and me doing research on my own and looking into

what PTSD was in the first place, it's the only way

I've been able to really figure out what it was.

You kind of have to do your own research.
