To avoid the memories of the trauma
I did my best just to not even think about it.
I helped other people, I was busy in athletics,
I was busy with our children, I was busy with my husband.
I worked full-time for the Army,
I took a part-time job as on-call psych work.
I went to school, I was NCOIC of social work.
I was...
I was the physical fitness NCO.
I was the CPR instructor, so I filled my life
with as much as I could possibly fill my life with,
in order not to be able to,
or not to have to think about things.
It was too much for me to be able to relax.
It was too much for me to have on my mind.
So I filled it with as much
other things as I possibly could.
