I did not have PTSD until after my tour of duty in Iraq.
As far as what signs, I didn't recognize them until
they were actually brought to my attention.
I didn't really know what PTSD was until
after the campaign that we went through.
I had, unfortunately, suffered from some flashbacks
and very, very bad nightmares.
I couldn't sleep at all, so I was then taken over to the VA
in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and I had met some doctors there
They had done some tests, and that's when I was diagnosed
with posttraumatic stress disorder.
Because of what I was exposed to while we were in theater,
it really didn't surprise me, I just
didn't expect it to happen so quickly.
