I didn't realize that I had a problem until somebody told me I had a problem.

John Angell Jr., US Marine Corps 2003 - 2008, talks about when he knew he needed to get help for PTSD.

Transcript

I didn't go get help because I didn't know I needed help.

It took an outside factor for me to realize

that there was something wrong.

I didn't realize that I had a problem

until somebody told me I had a problem.

It's like when you're in high school or middle school

and somebody puts those "Kick Me" signs on your back.

You don't know that you have it, but everybody else does.

So when somebody that actually cares about you tells you

that you have this sign on your back

and helps you take it off instead

of kicking it, you make a choice.

And I made a choice.

I made a choice to go seek treatment.

And I recommend it to any Vet, to go seek treatment.

If you don't want to, then don't.

Suck it up.

But I don't want to hear you bitch about it.

The option for you to go out there and get help is there.

The ability is up to you.
