I couldn't function anymore.

Ginger Mercer, US Army 1992 - 1994, talks about when she knew she needed to get help for PTSD.

Transcript

When I sought help, it was because I couldn't function anymore.

It was when my anxiety was so bad,

and my depression was so bad, and the sleep,

and the flashbacks, and the nightmares,

I just couldn't maintain it on my own anymore.

So I felt like I needed to go to the VA and get some help.

Through my primary care doctor, they recommended

that I visited another psychiatrist,

and then they diagnosed me with PTSD.
