I couldn't be sure that I could have endured.

Curtis Thompson (US Army, 1968 - 1969) talks about how PTSD treatment can help.

Transcript

The person that I saw for many years who provided medications

when I needed them and sympathetically agreed

that I should stop taking them

when the side effects were unacceptable,

retired from the VA.

And the last time we met I thanked him and I was able

to tell him that, but for the connection I was able to make

with him which was the first and the only time I was able

to make a connection and continue treatment,

was very likely the reason I was there that day to be able

to say thank you, that but for that I couldn't be sure

that I could have endured

and that I wouldn't have committed suicide.
