My daughters,
based upon what my mother kind of told them,
"Hey, be careful."
Now they're not like that. They just run to me any time.
I would notice at times where they were reluctant or sketchy
on hugging me,
but now it's not an issue.
They see a change.
They see, hey, Daddy is still Daddy,
and we can hug him whenever,
and we can come to him, we can talk to him,
we can sit down.
I'm also a single parent,
of an 18 year old, at that,
so she sees that, my father's different.
He did something.
We don't know what it is, but he's done something,
to better his life
and to strengthen his relationship with his children.
That's one of the most awesome feelings for a man,
to know that he still has access to his children,
he still can be loved, in spite of what he done in combat.
He's still loved by his family.
