I believe that I'm a good person now in this world…. your past does not define you.

Michael Allison (US Marine Corps, 1999-2007) describes how he's come to realize that he is a good person, and that he's here to make an impact.

With being a veteran,
we often get inside of our head

and we start selling ourselves
all of these beliefs

about ourselves.

And psychologically, we start
buying what we're selling.

But deep down,
I've always been a good person.

I've always been a good person.

But being in these circumstances
and situations,

you start identifying
with what real bad people do

and you think of yourself,
of what bad people do.

And in reality, you're not.

I'm not anyone on the street
that plots ups

and sits up here

and go around thinking,
I'm going to hurt somebody,

I'm going to go

and take someone's life.
I've never done that.

I've never done
anything like that.

But somehow I started creating
that identity.

That was me.

But in reality,
that was not true.

I believe I'm
a good person in this world.

I believe that I'm out here
to make an impact.

I'm out here to make a change.

I'm out here
to share my story with people

and let them know that you can
actually live a life that you're

you're meant to come out.

You live a life
that you were meant to live,

and your
past does not define you.
