I am processing things quite differently than I was before.

Eddie Hoffman (US Marine Corps, 2001 - 2010) talks about how PTSD treatment can help.

When something happens,

you analyze your options

on how to react to it,

and then you choose the
best one for you

based on your goals

or what you want out of
the situation.

So previously, I would
simply just react

to an event,

and people with PTSD, for
the most part,

we have a heightened level.

We're already at a
heightened level

where we're expecting
certain things to go wrong,

or we're just kind of
already ready

to react to certain
situations.

With CBT, I learned to
kind of slow that down,

and really think about

the way I'm gonna
react to things,

and be, essentially
become my own therapist;

just talk through it
if I need to.

And after a while, it
became more of a habit.

That was my habit to do so,

and now we're
five years on,

and I, I barely notice

that I'm analyzing
things differently,

but if I really
think about it,

I am processing things

quite differently than
I was before.
