How many times a week do I have to go?

Dr. Peter Tuerk, Clinical Psychologist, answers common questions about PTSD.

Transcript

I think the most common concerns that Veterans have

when they first come into therapy is the

length and time commitment, actually making it out to the VA.

How many times a week do I have to come?

How long is this going to last?

Things of that nature, sort of pragmatic questions about,

how am I going to get this done in a given period of time?

One of the great things about evidence-based treatment,

about PE, is that in our clinic,

the average number of sessions

is 10, so folks come in, and maybe some folks

only need six or seven sessions, and maybe some folks

take 12 or 15 sessions, but typically, it's about 10 sessions

and people are on their way feeling a lot better.

Now, this treatment doesn't work for everybody,

but there's no reason to think that it wouldn't work for you

since it works for the vast majority of folks that try it.
