He would drive for days sometimes.

He was very angry, he was very irritable.

The biggest thing he liked to do was just

get in the car and drive.

He would drive for days sometimes.

That was like, the car was, I think it was his freedom.

I think he could be in control, he was by himself in the car.

I think he felt like he was, at least he was

doing something and he was going somewhere.

He used to call it his escape pod.

He just knew that he could get in it --

and sometimes it would be all night he would drive

because nights were the worst time for the depression,

for the sadness, for all that kind of thing.

So if he was driving, at least he was busy and he was active,

and it just seemed to make him feel safe

to be in his car by himself.

So that was very common for him, to just go in the car

and drive, for a couple of days if he needed to.
