He did feel so guilty that he made it home

when so many others did not.

He just didn't want to focus any attention on himself.

He felt guilty that he actually survived the war,

and survived D-Day, and survived being a prisoner of war,

and that he made it home.

He felt guilty, and I think to go through

any kind of counseling or to seek help

would have almost been an affront

to those who didn't make it home.

That's the way I view his reticence to seek counseling.
