Having PTSD is a very lonely, lonely experience.
People have thoughts that come back to them,
and they experience those, typically, alone.
They don't share them, typically.
The nightmares, again, we experience that alone.
And then we've got symptoms that make us want to isolate,
that make us want to be away from crowds,
make us want to be away from intimacy.
So, the whole disorder kind of sets us up to feel lonely
and be lonely, and one of the things these first couple
sessions of PE does is help people not feel
so alone anymore and help generate a conversation for,
a vocabulary for these symptoms
that maybe they have been experiencing as a very lonely thing.
