I came to realize that things,
many things
were out of my control.
The sea state,
the distance between us,
and the area of search.
The physical situation at hand
with the people
that were in need of assistance.
There were so many things
that were outside of my control
and the control of my crew.
But for me, it was a failure.
The feeling of guilt
for not being
able to do that rescue
that did become a
recovery prevented me
from moving forward in my life.
