The coping skills I've been getting from the VA has helped out tremendously.

Josh Hansen (US Army, 2005 - 2007) talks about how PTSD treatment can help.

The treatment I get has been outstanding.

I've had great doctors to work with and counselors.

The way they break things down to,

for you to think before reacting has helped a lot instead

of just spur of the moment.

You know, in the military you have to quick react

and take care of the situation

and in the civilian world you gotta slow things down,

think about it for a bit and either walk away or think

of a better way of handling it other than hitting somebody

in the face or ramming a car

because you're getting irritated.

And so with a lot of the counseling I've had

and the medications I've got on,

I'm able to handle it better I should say.

I cope with it better.

The coping skills I've been getting from the VA has helped

out tremendously so I can continue my life

without always being on alert and a little out of control,

I guess you could say.
