Can medication help me get a good night's sleep?

Dr. Tonya Masino, Psychiatrist, answers common questions about PTSD.

Transcript

One very common reason Veterans come into treatment

is for sleep problems, for example.

Many Veterans returning from combat experience a great

deal of difficulty sleeping, nightmares are very common.

One example of a medication that is very helpful for

a lot of people that I've treated is prazosin.

It is a medication that can help reduce nightmares.

When Veterans come in to see me with nightmares and

insomnia, it's very gratifying to be able to offer a medication

that actually can help treat nightmares, for example.

And that's just one example of

one of the interventions that can be helpful.
