Avoidance was my life.

I think that avoidance was my life

even though I didn't realize it.

I did not want to consider, contemplate or encounter

anything that reminded me of my deployment.

There are other factors that I might refer to

specifically related to that,

but avoidance is a key thing.

I didn't even want to see a uniform to be candid.

I didn't want to, still don't really want to see sand,

but you know

(laughs)

loud noises, avoiding people,

avoiding social interaction,

so there were a lot of things that I avoided.
