"About five or ten minutes into the movie, he said, ""Can we cut this off?""

Florence Vaught, Wife of a Veteran with PTSD, talks about the signs of PTSD that she saw.

Transcript

Before we were married, I rented a movie,

and I can't even remember the name of it,

but it was about Vietnam, and it was a beautiful movie.

I thought he would enjoy seeing this movie,

so I thought I was doing something special for him.

And about 5 or 10 minutes into the movie he said,

"Can we cut this off?"

Because it was bringing on something,

and that was before I knew anything about

what he was going through.

We don't go to many movies that have war in it,

we don't watch them on television.

I will say, "'Pearl Harbor' is going to be on the TV,

would you like to see it?"

And he says, "No."

Occasionally, we will accidentally see a movie on television,

and we normally cut it off.

And he normally will have a nightmare, and I will wake him up.

And generally, once I've waked him up,

he'll go back to sleep and sleep peacefully.
