Ron Whitcomb, US Army 1968 - 1969, talks about when he knew he needed to get help for PTSD.

Transcript

In 1989 I had a complete meltdown with PTSD.

I had a profound case.

Going through the interview at the VA, I fell apart

and checked myself into the psychiatric ward for three weeks

because I couldn't, it was the first time I was opening up

and talking about my issues and it overwhelmed me.

And once I got through the interview process

and it was determined I had Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

then I could begin a very lengthy

and very successful treatment program.
